Experienced Personnel: our Differentiator

Eric Adams, Founder and Principal Advisor

What separates Federal Cyber Defense from other FedRAMP, CMMC, and other compliance advisory firms is experience from our Founder - experience as a visionary builder and pioneer in Federal Cloud.

Eric led the creation and authorization of the first FedRAMP-authorized cybersecurity SaaS offering for the U.S. Federal Government (HP Fortify on Demand, now OpenText owned), serving as the overall FedRAMP Program Lead, Security Architect, SSP Author, Control Gap Assessor, Remediation Lead, and primary liaison to the 3PAO and federal authorizing officials. Designed and implemented the complete government-specific service offering, operational security program, audit artifacts, and authorization package that resulted in the industry's first FedRAMP-authorized Security SaaS platform in early 2015.

Why Experience Matters?

In FedRAMP terms, this work Eric performed today would often require these roles:

  • FedRAMP Program Manager
  • Security Architect
  • Compliance Lead
  • SSP Author
  • Control Assessor/Internal Auditor
  • Remediation Manager
  • Continuous Monitoring Lead
  • Incident Response Program Manager
  • Change Management Program Manager
  • Government Accreditation Lead
  • 3PAO Liaison

FedRAMP Level of Difficulty

A business does not realize that getting an authorization is not primarily a coding exercise. The hard part is often:

  • Designing a compliant architecture
  • Building the operational controls
  • Creating the documentation package
  • Identifying and categorizing control gaps
  • Remediating difficult and numerous control gaps
  • Establishing governance processes
  • Training personnel for roles and duties
  • Standing up continuous monitoring
  • Coordinating with the 3PAO
  • Navigating the authorization process
  • Understanding Government procurement process
